E-signature troubleshooting and FAQs

Find quick answers to common e-signature questions in Givver

Find quick answers to common questions about creating, sending, signing, and retrieving documents in Givver.

📄 Document upload

Why can't I continue after uploading a document?

Check that:

  1. The file is a PDF no larger than 50 MB

  2. The PDF loaded under "Document preview"

  3. "Document name" is not empty

  4. "Expiry (days)" contains a whole number from 1 to 365

If Givver cannot display the document, click "Retry". If it still does not load, replace it with a valid, unencrypted PDF.

👥 Recipients

Why can't I continue after adding recipients?

You need at least one recipient. Check that every recipient has:

  • A name

  • A valid email address

  • An email address that has not already been added

  • A different positive position when sequential signing is enabled

An internal employee without an email address displays "No email on file". Add or correct their email before sending.

Can I add someone who does not have a Givver account?

Yes. In "Recipients", click "Add external recipient", then enter their name and email address. Givver sends their signing link by email.

Automatic filing to an employee profile is not available when every recipient is external.

Can people sign in a particular order?

Yes. Turn on "Sequential signing" and arrange recipients in the order you need. Each person acts after the recipients before them have finished.

When sequential signing is turned off, everyone receives the request at the same time and can act in parallel.

✍️ Fields and sending

Why can't I send the request?

Givver prevents sending when the document is not ready. Common reasons include:

  • There is no signer, counter-signer, or approver

  • A signer, counter-signer, or approver has no required field

  • Someone who must sign has no signature field

  • A field is not assigned to a recipient

Return to "Place fields" and check "Preparation readiness" to see what is missing.

💾 Saved drafts

Where is my saved draft?

Go to "Documents → Signatures → Drafts". A draft saved to Givver should also appear under "All".

If you left without clicking "Save and finish later", Givver may find an unsaved copy on the same device. Choose "Resume draft" to continue or "Discard" to start again.

Check the save message before leaving:

  • "Saved to Givver": the draft was saved to your account

  • "Saved on this device": return using the same browser and device

  • "Could not save": keep the page open and click "Retry"

Can a signer finish later?

Yes. On the signing page, open "Other actions", click "Finish later", and wait for "Saved" before leaving.

Return using the original link in the email. If you see "Could not save", click "Retry" first.

📩 Email delivery

The recipient did not receive the email

  1. Check the recipient's email address on the request

  2. Ask them to check their spam or junk folder

  3. Review their delivery status on the request page

  4. Click "Send reminder" if it is available

  5. Use "Edit and resend" if their email address is wrong

"Edit and resend" creates a new signing link and disables the previous one.

"Email failed", "Email bounced", or "Email blocked" points to a delivery problem rather than a missing signature.

🔐 Access codes

I don't have the access code

Access codes are never included in the signing email. Ask the sender to share it with you separately.

After too many incorrect attempts, access is locked for 15 minutes. Wait, then reopen the link and try again.

⏳ Signing links and status

Why does the page say “Not your turn yet”?

The sender enabled sequential signing and someone before you still needs to act. The page shows your position and how many people are ahead of you.

Use the same emailed link after the earlier recipients have finished.

The signing link is invalid, expired, or unavailable

  • "Invalid link": reopen the original email and use the complete link

  • "Document expired": contact the sender because the signing period has ended

  • "Document unavailable": the sender may have voided or replaced the request

  • "Signing unavailable": the signing session can no longer be used

The sender can open the request in Givver to check its status and available actions.

Can I decline a request?

Yes. Open "Other actions", click "Decline to sign", enter a reason, and click "Decline".

Declining cannot be undone. If the document contains an error, contact the sender before declining.

✅ Completed documents

Where can I find the final signed document?

Go to "Documents → Signatures → Completed" and open the request.

The "Signed document" preview and "Download" action show the final PDF containing all completed fields and signatures. The "Original unsigned document" is labelled separately.

The completed document cannot be previewed

Click "Retry" if Givver says the signed document could not be loaded or is temporarily unavailable.

If the document fails an integrity check, Givver will not display it. Do not use an older or unsigned copy as a replacement. Contact your administrator or the Givver support team.

📁 Filing to an employee profile

Why isn't the signed document on the employee profile?

Open the completed request and check its filing status:

  • "Filing not requested": "File after completion" was not enabled before sending

  • "Filing pending": Givver is still adding the document

  • "Filing failed": automatic filing did not complete

  • "Filed on the employee record": the document was added successfully

If filing failed, click "Retry" when available. You can also download the signed PDF and upload it manually.

🧠 Things to keep in mind

  1. Wait for a save confirmation before leaving a draft or signing page

  2. Share access codes separately from the invitation email

  3. "Edit and resend" disables the old signing link

  4. The signed preview and download should contain the same completed document

  5. Never share access codes, signing links, or confidential document contents through an unsecured channel
