How to add an additional payment

  1. Go to the Additional pay items section in the employee profile.

  2. Click Add payment in the top right corner.

  3. Select the type of payment you want to add.

Available options

The options available will depend on the setup for each company.

You will only see the payment and benefit types that have already been configured for that company.

  1. Complete the payment details:

    • Amount: enter the monthly amount

    • Effective month: choose the month when the payment should apply

    • Frequency: choose whether the payment is:

      • One-off, or

      • Recurring

    • Comments: add any notes if needed

  2. If the payment is Recurring, choose whether it should run:

    • Indefinitely = Yes, if there is no end date

    • Indefinitely = No, if it should stop on a specific date

  3. If you select Indefinitely = No, add the End date.

  4. Click Save.

Important notes

  • The Amount field should always contain the monthly amount, not the annual total.

  • For example, if a benefit is 1,200 across a full tax year, you should enter 100.

  • The options shown in the dropdown depend on the company setup, so these may be different from one company to another.

  • If a payment or benefit applies for the full tax year, we recommend setting it up as a recurring item starting from April.

How to check it has been added correctly

After saving, the payment should appear in the Additional pay items table, where you can review:

  • Type

  • Amount

  • Frequency

  • Effective month

You can also click the eye icon to open the item and review the full details, including:

  • amount

  • effective month

  • frequency

  • comments

  • tax and pension treatment

This is also useful to confirm which type of payment has been added.

Example

To add a benefit worth 1,200 over the full tax year:

  • do not enter 1,200

  • enter 100 as the monthly amount instead

  • if it applies throughout the year, set it up as a recurring payment from April
